Middle Touchpoint Sync
What:
Touchpoint Capture enables Digital Source Tracker (DST) to store all digital touchpoints and summarize them into a report. Historically, only the First Anonymous Digital Touch and the touch associated with a completed form fill were synced directly to the Salesforce campaign member. Now, with the addition of Middle Touchpoint Sync, digital touches that occur after the initial touch and before the form fill will also be synced to the campaign member.
Where and How:
In the Digital Source Tracker Configuration, there are new options for enabling Middle Touchpoint Sync. Learn more about Middle Touchpoint Sync before enabling. After enabling, users should see richer data in the Digital Revenue Dashboard, reflecting more digital touchpoints.
Who:
This will benefit digital marketers that are looking to see the full impact of all their digital marketing efforts, including those nurturing campaigns that may lead to customer engagements, form fills, and eventually closed won deals.
Why:
Previously, any utm campaigns that were a part of middle touchpoints occuring before a form fill could not be visible for attribution reporting. The enabling of Middle Touchpoint Sync expands your digital attribution to all touchpoints that worked to nurture and drive the user towards sales engagement.
Key considerations
A key consideration before enabling Middle Touchpoint Sync is the potential data storage impact.
Enabling Middle Touchpoint Sync will increase the number of campaign members in your Salesforce org. For companies with a lot of digital activity, this may lead to issues with storage limitations within Salesforce. Prior to enabling Middle Touchpoint Sync, we suggest that you use the Touchpoint Capture configuration to estimate the number of middle touches that will be synced to Salesforce each week. The "Estimate Amount of Middle Touchpoint Data" button within the Touchpoint Capture configuration will provide this information. Please note that the estimate will be accurate only if Digital Source Tracker has been installed and running for at least one week.
