As described in the Installation & Configuration guide, there are two settings in Touchpoint Capture Advanced Configuration called "Always Associate Last Touchpoint" and "Number of Hours for Form Fill Association". The following are some examples of different scenarios to assist in understanding the implications of these settings.
Single-Touch Visitor Journey
Consider the following sample visitor journey where the visitor arrives via a Google search result, keeps the tab open but leaves for 28 hours, and then returns to the tab, visits another page on the site, and fills out a form:
In this scenario, DST has one digital touchpoint saved for the visitor, with data on the Google search referral.
If your org has "Always Associate Last Touchpoint" set to "Yes", then this digital touchpoint would appear on the campaign member created by your Marketing Automation Platform:
If your org has "Always Associate Last Touchpoint" set to "No" and "Number of Hours for Form Fill Association" set to "24", then DST would create a new Anonymous Digital Touch campaign member with this digital touchpoint data, while there would be no digital touchpoint data on the campaign member created by your Marketing Automation Platform:
This is because the digital touchpoint happened over 24 hours before the Form Page 2 Campaign Member got created.
Multi-Touch Visitor Journey
Now let's consider another journey where the visitor leaves the site altogether after first arriving from a Google search result, and later returns via a LinkedIn post and fills out a form after 28 hours:
In this scenario, DST has two digital touchpoints saved for the visitor, the first with data on the Google search referral and the last with data on the LinkedIn post referral.
If your org has "Always Associate Last Touchpoint" set to "Yes", then DST will create an Anonymous Digital Touch campaign member with the first digital touchpoint data, and the last touchpoint data would appear on the campaign member created by your Marketing Automation Platform:
If your org has "Always Associate Last Touchpoint" set to "No" and "Number of Hours for Form Fill Association" set to "24", then DST would create a new Anonymous Digital Touch campaign member with the first digital touchpoint data, while there would be no digital touchpoint data on the campaign member created by your Marketing Automation Platform:
This is because the last digital touchpoint happened over 24 hours before the Form Page 3 Campaign Member got created.
