Report Updates Needed for GA4
Once you have updated your Google Analytics to use the new GA4 API, in order to see the data reflected in the standard Full Circle Digital Dashboards, you will need to make changes to the filter criteria in many of the reports.
The following are the options for you to modify the filter criteria "Data Source = GA Segments" based on your preference or need:
1. Switch to retrieve data only for GA4
Taking this approach will display only data from GA4 in your reports and dashboards. Any data prior to you enabling the GA4 datasource for your Google Analytics will not be shown. To do this you would modify the filter criteria to "Data Source = GA4 Segments"
2. Retrieve data from both Universal Analytics and GA4
Taking this approach will display data from both GA4 and Universal Analytics. If you have GA4 running at the same time as the soon to be deprecated Universal Analytics, you will get duplicate data in your reports and dashboards from the time you started tracking data with GA4 datasource. To do this, you would modify the filter criteria to "Data Source = GA Segments, GA4 Segments"
3. Retrieve older data from Universal Analytics and newer data from GA4
Taking this approach will ensure that you're getting all of your data, including historical before GA4, but not have duplicate data to overinflate your numbers/counts. It requires a slightly more complex filter change however.
You would need to add three filters, where GA4 Enablement date is the date you started getting data with GA4 datasource.
- Filter #5: Day Less than <GA4 enablement date>
- Filter #6: Day Greater or Equal <GA4 enablement date>
- Filter #7: Data Source = GA4 Segments
Then you would need to add filter logic to the criteria. If the report originally had four filters including original GA Segments filter (We'll use existing Data Source = GA Segements" as Filter #2), then the filter logic should look like this:
- 1 AND 3 AND 4 AND ((2 AND 5) or (6 AND 7))
Below are the reports where you will need to make the criteria change (Grouped by Dashboard)
