All Together, Now!
Funnel Metrics' Sync Fields feature lets you synchronize fields...but somehow, we think you probably guessed that from the name. Specifically, Sync Fields enables you to take fields from a lead, contact, account, or opportunity and sync them with the associated campaign member or campaign influence detail record. Why would you want to do this? For reporting purposes, of course! These fields are built on the campaign member or campaign influence detail objects, a.k.a. the primary hubs Full Circle uses for reporting. Full Circle can be configured to synchronize these fields as they are populated upon create or update, and cleared when set to inactive, or cleared after synchronization upon create. They capture specific information beyond the normal funnel metrics. Sync Fields typically fit into the following categories:
Segments: Geo, revenue size, # employees, account types, etc.
Selling Cycle: Active Trial, Targeted/Strategic Account
SLA Visibility: Understanding rep engagement volume - the geo or sales team
Lead and Contact Field Synchronization:
- Sync on Create: Copies the related lead/contact value to the response (campaign member) when created. Can only be used for lead or contact fields.
- Sync on Update: When a lead or contact is associated with an active response, and the field is updated on the related lead/contact, the update will be reflected on the active response. Can only be used for lead or contact fields.
Additional Contact Field Synchronization
- Sync on Convert: Some users want to synchronize data up to the response when a lead is converted to a contact. This setting applies to leads with active responses converted to contacts. When checked, the value of the source field on the contact will be updated to the active response after lead conversion. Use this setting to capture data you want to snapshot from the contact and access after lead conversion. Consider lead-to-contact field mapping.
- Sync on Op-Create: Populated with the value of the source field on the contact. Will be updated to the active response after lead conversion.
- Update Op-Active: Populated with the value of the source field on the contact. Will be updated to the active response upon Opportunity create, and until the Opportunity is closed won. Differs from the normal update functionality, which ends upon opportunity creation.
Object-to-object Sync Capabilities:
- Lead to Campaign Member
- Contact to Campaign Member
- Campaign Member to Campaign Influence Detail (when influence refresh occurs)
Limitations/complications:
The following are not impossible, but may require additional formula fields on the related object or workflow rules to set.
- Formulas that hit limits
- Multi-select picklist values
- Lookup fields
Clearing Source fields:
- Clear When Set to Inactive: The field value on the source lead or contact will be cleared when the lead or contact is set to an inactive status (typically when a lead/contact is disqualified or sent back to nurture, or when the related opportunity is closed).
- Clear After Sync on Create: Works in conjunction with Sync on Create. If both of these settings are checked, the Source field will be cleared after the data is synced to the response. A common use-case is to synchronize UTM fields from the related lead or contact, and to clear them after the synchronization is complete.
Here's what syncing leads and campaign member fields looks like in action:
NB: For other types of analytics data, you can pull current information from a whole host of additional source (like the lead, contact, account, and opportunity objects) using formula fields.
