Fuzzy matching is a technique that's used to find matches between leads and accounts, even if they don't correspond perfectly with one another. For example, without fuzzy matching, "K & M Electrics" and "K and M Electrics" could end up as two separate accounts with two separate histories when they are in fact the same company entered into the system in two different ways.
These less-exact matches often still provide useful information to apps like Full Circle Matchmaker.
