The Deal Explorer is a tool used for analyzing an Opportunity and seeing all the campaign and activities that may have impacted the Opportunity. To configure the Deal Explorer, click the Deal Explorer Configuration button, from the Main Configuration page:
This feature allows you to exclude event types from the Deal Explorer Display.
This setting is beneficial if you want to set up your event list, so it matches events that are part of your campaign strategy.
Events in list are defined by the standard event Type field.
On the left you can select event types to exclude from the Deal Explorer display. You can use Event to filter out any events where the Type field value is not set.
This feature allows you to exclude task types from the Deal Explorer Display.
This setting is beneficial if you want to set up your task list, so it matches tasks that are part of your campaign strategy.

Other Configuration Options
Days from Opportunity Create
This feature indicates the timeframe in which tasks and activities are considered relevant to an Opportunity.
The Days from Opportunity Create filter allows users to filter the content displayed in the Deal Explorer to only include activities and responses within a certain timeframe relative to the Opportunity.
Only responses and activities that take within this number of days prior to the opportunity create date, or between opportunity create and close, will be displayed. Leave blank for no date limits.
Top Panel Display via Field Sets
With the use of Standard Salesforce Field Sets, you can configure which Opportunity fields are set on the left and right columns of the top panel of the Deal Explorer.
In order to have the Field Set options available in the Deal Explorer Configuration selection, you will first need to go to Salesforce Set Up.

To Create Opportunity Field Sets go to:
Setup | Build | Customize | Opportunities | Field Sets
Enter your Field Set Label and where it is used. Click Save.
From the Field Set Properties screen, Click Save.
Create field sets for each column you want to replace. Ideally name them by left or right panel so they are easy to reference later.
After the Field Sets are configured, you can select them in the configuration page. If a value of None is displayed in the field set picklist value – the default Deal Explorer fields will display.
Be sure to Save the page after configuration by clicking on the Save Button.
